Rosy Cervantes at the Festival of Images and Words

The passionate Mexican singer will be joining us for the Opening of the 22 Festival of Images and Words, on September 24th at Glendon Gallery.

Rosy Cervantes received her vocal training from Professor Julio García in Cuernavaca, State of Morelos, in Mexico.

In 1994, she sets off on a tour in the State of Morelos with the Latin-American folklore group Nahui, under the “Flor y Canto” programme.

She sang with Lalo Chico, an icon of the Mexican blues, in the Cuernavaca City Blues Band, and in 2002, they recorded the album “Morelos al ataque”. In the same year, she founded the Sana Rabia and participated in the International Cultural Festival of the State of Morelos, in which she also performed in 2004, 2005, and 2006. In 2008, she participated in the Cuernavaca International Cervantes Festival and in 2011, in the 5^th International Blues Festival in Mexico City.

In 2006, with Sana Rabia, she recorded the album “Lo blanco y lo negro”, which included some of her own compositions and those of Mexican singers-songwriters such as Rafael Mendoza and Gerardo Peña.

In her music, Rosy Cervantes finds her own catharsis as well as a channel of communication with the listeners that evokes emotions ranging from the softest to the most intense.
